1. Stock Market
Vietnam Market:
The market recovered slightly after last weekend’s volatility. Liquidity decreased, showing cooling supply, while capital inflow still provided support. The gap-up signal on August 14 continues to have a positive effect. The previous uptrend still supports recovery, with expectations to retest the resistance zone of 1,650 – 1,660 points.
U.S. Market:
Dow Jones slipped slightly by 0.08% (~34 points) to close at 44,911.82. The S&P 500 was nearly flat, edging down 0.01% to 6,449.15. Nasdaq Composite rose slightly by 0.03% to 21,629.77. Investors are awaiting Fed Chair Powell’s speech at Jackson Hole later this week. The market seems to be “pausing for breath” to assess possible monetary policy adjustments. Meanwhile, small-cap momentum has started to fade, while tech stocks remain relatively strong.
